For almost a century, sobriety has been measured almost exclusively in days. While that method has been meaningful for many, as a sole method, it also doesn’t leave much room for error. With 3 out 5 of people in recovery returning to use within the first year, CLEAN Cause and the CLEAN Cause Foundation created another way to think about recovery with Recovery Run Club.
Recovery Run Club is already redefining the age-old method of measuring recovery by tracking the miles someone runs, referred to as "Miles CLEAN." And those miles remain, even if someone takes a step back.
CLEAN Cause is no stranger to supporting addiction recovery, with 50% of its net profits (or $250,000 a year, whichever is greater) donated directly to the CLEAN Cause Foundation. Recovery Run Club seemed like a natural way to support the communities they already work with. With Recovery Run Club, CLEAN Cause is combining their better-for-you yerba mate energy drinks—created to fuel people physically—with a powerful purpose: fueling healthy habits that nurture staying on track.
“We set out to deepen our impact by creating a unique tool that tracks progress while encouraging a healthier lifestyle, fostering connection, and celebrating every win,” said Todd Bondy, CEO of CLEAN Cause. “This app is built around the power of community—whether you drink CLEAN Cause, are in recovery, or both, you're part of something bigger.”
“We believe this app will resonate across the recovery community, especially those in the early recovery housing programs we work with,” says Julie McElrath, MSSW; President and Chief Cause Officer of the CLEAN Cause Foundation. “We love that people will get a chance to track recovery in miles along with engaging in a new routine that supports their overall health and wellness.”
In addition to tracking an individual user’s “Miles CLEAN” and rewarding them with milestone achievements along the way, the app encourages community by adding those miles to the community’s collective miles. Because the app connects runners to a curated list of recovery-friendly run clubs in their area, app users can also help their clubs accumulate more “Community Miles CLEAN,”
Whether you are in recovery, an advocate, a friend, or just love to run, Recovery Run Club is a great option. Download the app now on the Apple Store and join the movement.
