Port of Spain, Trinidad (June 17, 2025) – This summer, The House of Angostura®, the world-renowned Caribbean distillery celebrated for its award-winning premium aged rums and iconic bitters, announces Summer Swizzling—a spirited campaign that revives this Caribbean island’s most iconic cocktail tradition: the Swizzle. From rooftop bars to backyard soirées, ANGOSTURA®—the “Unofficial” Rum of Swizzling”—is bringing swizzling to the forefront of cocktail culture and invites cocktail lovers and rum enthusiasts to discover the art of swizzling through a vibrant lineup of refreshing cocktails crafted with its premium aged rums and world-famous bitters.
Leading the Summer Swizzling celebration is Raymond Edwards, Angostura’s Chief Brand Educator, who is introducing a new generation of cocktail enthusiasts to the history, craftsmanship, and sensory delight of the swizzle. From the legendary Queen’s Park Swizzle to the bright and floral Hibiscus Swizzle, these cocktails celebrate Angostura’s Caribbean roots and timeless rum-making tradition.
“Swizzling isn’t just a technique—it’s a vibe. It’s about rhythm, balance, and flavor. With the right rum, the right bitters, and the right movement, the result is magic in a glass,” said Edwards. ”This summer, we’re reviving this timeless Caribbean tradition and inviting everyone to experience it with cocktails that speak to the season.”
The Art of Swizzling
Originating in the Caribbean and traditionally mixed with a bois lélé (swizzle stick), the swizzle is more than a cocktail—it’s a cultural symbol of a laid-back island lifestyle. Swizzling dates back generations and is intrinsically tied to Trinidad and Tobago. ANGOSTURA® premium aged rums, crafted at the only distillery in Trinidad & Tobago, are the perfect foundation for swizzles, with their smooth complexity and layered tropical notes. Steeped in Caribbean history, the swizzle is perhaps best known in its classic form—the Queen’s Park Swizzle—first crafted in Trinidad at the historic Queen’s Park Hotel. Using a wooden swizzle stick made from the Quararibea Turbinata tree—native to the region—bartenders stir ingredients with crushed ice until the glass frosts, creating a layered cocktail with complex textures, balanced flavors, and unmatched refreshment.
"As cocktail culture continues to flourish beyond the bar, the swizzle offers an easy, impressive way to bring island flavor home,” continued Edwards. “With simple tools, ANGOSTURA® premium aged rums and bitters, tropical ingredients, and a bit of flair, this summer marks the return of the swizzle."
