NEW YORK, NEW YORK [March 31, 2026] - Known for its artisanal yet pioneering approach to making whisky, The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky is unveiling a new limited-edition collection titled “A Gift Shaped By The Seasons” in partnership with award-winning artist Victo Ngai. Timed for Father’s Day, the new limited-edition gift set, containing The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old, The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year Old, and two leather coasters, becomes a storytelling canvas through Ngai’s mythical and legendary designs.
The whiskies gain their distinctive character from maturation in two differing cask types, a process founded by The Balvenie in 1983. On the packaging, Ngai interprets this innovation by symbolically weaving two tree trunks into the composition, their tree rings hinting at the liquid’s age.
Victo Ngai is an award-winning Los Angeles-based artist from Hong Kong, whose meticulous craftsmanship and handmade designs reflect The Balvenie’s commitment to patience, technical skill, and creativity in the art of making. Embracing the provenance of the single malt Scotch distillery, Ngai celebrates The Balvenie’s unhurried and nurturing approach to its craft. Her artworks encapsulate the brand’s belief in time as a creative force, a philosophy she explores through references to the four seasons:
- Spring conjures the spirit of hope and anticipation which accompanies the first stages of whisky production, depicted as a blousy peony nourishing the Balvenie Bees who feast on nectar from stamens cleverly disguised as ears of barley.
- Summer evokes the energy and vitality of a distillery in full flow; a painted wisp from the distillery’s active Malt House chimney rises as the mythic Green Lady, The Balvenie’s rumored resident ghost. A Scottish Deerhound playfully watches on from the stream, itself a nod to the “Dipping Dog,” the copper vessel once used for a bygone transgression: discreetly siphoning a personal reserve.
- Autumn speaks of transformation, where depth and character evolve in the precious liquid over time. From a barley-grain chrysalis, a butterfly emerges with golden leaf-wings, an emblem of patience rewarded.
- Finally, winter brings maturation, a quiet strength shown through a snow bunting in flight, its wings echoing the cycles of craft and time. As snowflakes fall, they turn to golden drops, bringing the long-anticipated gift of whisky.
“The Balvenie carries rich stories across both the distillery and its whiskies, and it has been a true pleasure to translate these into visual form,” said Ngai. “I see many parallels in our creative approaches, from craftsmanship and a drive to explore new possibilities, to the belief that the most meaningful work is rarely achieved by taking the easy route.”
Further symbolism is incorporated into the narrative-led packaging. The meandering Robbie Dhu, the distillery’s mineral-rich spring, captures golden drips from the dew-laden flowers in an ever-evolving cycle of nature’s creativity. A lone traveler, floating mindfully on a drifting oak leaf, embodies the restraint of The Balvenie’s patient craftspeople charged with balancing a natural process with the hand of the maker.
“It is a joy to see Victo Ngai’s creative interpretation of our artistry and time-honored whisky-making process,” said Andrew Furley, Global Brand Managing Director, The Balvenie. “Her charming and atmospheric scenes transpose layered meaning to our Cask Finishes packaging, perfectly complementing the creative and complex flavors of the whisky itself.”
A GIFT SHAPED BY THE SEASONS is available for purchase nationwide starting May 2026, one month before Father’s Day in the United States.
