Sogrape Declares Vintage 2024 for Porto Ferreira and Sandeman

Stamford, CT | Sogrape, Portugal's leading family-owned wine group and one of the world's most respected Port producers, declares Vintage 2024 for two of its flagship Port brands: Porto Ferreira and Sandeman. The wines, products of an exceptional harvest in the Douro Valley, are slated to hit the U.S. market fall 2026 through Evaton Inc., Sogrape’s dedicated U.S. distribution arm. 

The declaration marks the first Classic Vintage of the 2020s for both brands, a pinnacle achievement for Sogrape as this is a designation reserved for years of extraordinary quality and carried out at the discretion of the individual house. Classic Vintage Ports are among the most collectible and age-worthy wines in the world, routinely maturing over decades.

The 2024 Vintage: A Harvest Built For The Cellar 

The 2024 growing season in the Douro was defined by contrast: moderate winter rainfall and a wet March gave way to a dry, hot summer that demanded precision in harvest timing. Cooler temperatures in September and October rains ultimately contributed to fruit of exceptional concentration and balance.

Luís de Sottomayor, Sogrape's Director of Oenology and Head Winemaker for Douro and Port Wines, characterizes the vintage: "The 2024 Vintages show remarkable freshness and harmony. The Wines at a Glance

Porto Ferreira Vintage 2024: Solid structure, elegance, and polished tannins. A wine anchored in the house's storied heritage, which dates to 1751, and calibrated for long-term cellaring.

Sandeman Vintage 2024: Robust, concentrated, and deeply structured. Built for the cellar, with firm tannins and impressive depth consistent with Sandeman's reputation as one of Port's most recognized global names.
