U.S. wine & spirits market development company, Drinks EMD, is excited to announce the partnership with Porter’s Gin of Aberdeen, Scotland. Porter’s Gin will join the artisanal portfolio of brands that Drinks EMD imports and develops throughout the U.S. market.
“Knowing how crowded the gin category is in the U.S. especially brands from the UK, it was super important to find a partner that set themselves apart. Ben and team at Porter’s have dedicated years to perfecting the flavor and profile of their gin. We are excited to introduce it to US bartenders and consumers,” said Martin Peters of Drinks EMD.
The story of Porter’s began in 2012, when founders Ben, Josh and Alex decided to turn the basement of their bar in Aberdeen, Scotland into a micro-distillery. The team sourced a rotary evaporator: a unique piece of equipment which allows botanicals to be distilled at low temperatures. This ‘cold distillation’ process captures light, natural flavor profiles from botanicals that might otherwise be damaged by heat.
Their final recipe called for a combination of modern and classic production methods. The traditional gin botanicals were distilled in a copper pot still, while the modern “cold distillation” techniques were utilized for the delicate botanicals.
The result is a light, refined, citrus-forward, dry gin that brings together the best of classic and contemporary distilling.
