Junior Johnson brand premium sweet tea and lemonade to be offered at Bristol Motor Speedway

Winston-Salem, NC. – Junior Johnson Brand Premium Sweet Iced Tea and Lemonade will be used in the new signature drink from Bristol Motor Speedway – “Thunder Valley Lightning”. As previously announced Bristol Motor Speedway has partnered with Piedmont Distillers, Inc. and its Junior Johnson Midnight Moon moonshine to introduce a signature drink named, “Thunder Valley Lightning”. The new signature drink will be offered with either Junior Johnson Brand Premium Brewed Sweet Tea or Premium Old Fashioned Lemonade. For the spring race weekend, race fans will be able to purchase the signature drink in a 24-ounce collectible cup at 20 drink stations located throughout Bristol Motor Speedway’s concourse area inside the track and at exterior locations surrounding the track. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will go to a non-profit organization.

Junior Johnson Brand premium products are distributed by Yadkin Valley Foods, which is majority owned by Junior and Lisa Johnson.

“We created Yadkin Valley Foods to develop new products under the Junior Johnson Brand name”, Johnson said. “Our initial offering will consist of products we serve out here on our ranch almost everyday – sweet tea, lemonade, and biscuits.”

Junior Johnson Brand Premium Brewed Sweet Tea and Old Fashioned Lemonade are sweetened with real granulated sugar and made with purified North Carolina Mountain Water. The Lemonade uses 15% real lemon juice, a much higher percentage than many ready to drink lemonades available on the market today.

“As you can imagine Junior and Lisa are pretty particular about the quality of the tea and lemonade they serve,” said General Manager Tim Clark. “After a very thorough development process, we have what we think are the best tasting ready to drink teas and lemonade you can find. Consumers can rest assured that Junior and Lisa stand behind the quality and taste of these products. The tagline for the brand is “If we don’t serve it, we don’t sell it.'”

After retiring from driving, Junior became a legendary team owner. His drivers won 139 races and six series championships. Cale Yarborough won three straight titles from 1776-1778 and Darrell Waltrip won the three other championships in 1981, ’82 and ’85. He is ranked as the 3rd most successful owner in NASCAR history.

Junior Johnson Brand Premium Sweet Tea, Sugar Free Tea and Lemonade will be offered through select retail grocery partners in gallon jugs beginning in April.
