LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — Fairway Market, a northeast store chain with 12 locations, will now be carrying ROAR Performance Sports Drink in all of its stores. The stores are located in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. It has also been named several years in the row as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. The sports drinks were test marketed in certain areas of the store last year. Following the success in sales that they had, the store has decided to carry them in all of their stores in the chain.
“We are pleased to announce this deal with Fairway Market,” explains Roly Nesi, the chief executive officer and brand architect for the company. “They have been with us from the beginning and we are happy to be expanding into all of their stores. We look forward to a long lasting and mutually beneficial relationship with them.”
“We are excited about the potential of an alternative sports drink, and we like what we’ve seen with ROAR. This brand is clearly on to something, and the sales have backed that up,” explains Ian Pilarsky, the Director of Specialty Grocery at Fairway Market.
ROAR Beverages, the company that makes the ROAR Performance Sports Drink, is based in Long Island, New York, where the first products were available. The sports drink has quickly become popular with many extreme sports enthusiasts in the area, as well as a large fan base in the booming lacrosse, hockey, Crossfit, and MMA communities. The company has recently expanded its sales area beyond New York City to include additional Northeast states.
ROAR Performance Sports Drink currently comes in four flavors, including lemon lime, blue raspberry, orange citrus, and fruit punch. It is naturally flavored and uses a coconut water base, offering balanced hydration. Each of the sports drinks offers the same proprietary blend of electrolytes and energizing B vitamins; including B12, B6, B5, and B3. The drinks are also gluten-free, and caffeine-free, and they do not contain preservatives, artificial flavors, or high fructose corn syrup. ROAR is made with less sugar than traditional sports drinks, and unlike many other sports drinks does not contain the controversial ingredient brominated vegetable oil.
“I grew up shopping at Fairway with my parents, to see ROAR on the shelf in such a great community oriented chain is pretty cool. Since we have not focused on gaining expensive access to chain accounts up to date, Fairway is the first to really give us some visibility and strong data ” added Nesi. “We look forward to being in all of the Fairway Markets and expanding even further. We have a growth plan that will keep us steadily and safely moving further out.”
The ROAR Performance Sports Drinks are currently available in Fairway Markets, which has stores in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, as well as in various other stores. They are currently working with Northeast Beverage Corporation in Connecticut and Rhode Island, Farrell Distributors in Vermont, and Fischer-Thompson Beverages in New Jersey.
