BevNET Review: Opreme Energy Drink’s flagship flavor is this one, which has been given the name “Genuine.” While that’s an interesting alternative to “Original,” the drink is, unfortunately, a stereotypical energy drink. On the back of the can, the product says that it’s “the finest energy blend packed into a can," yet it has a stock energy drink flavor. Perhaps the only noteworthy difference to competing brands is that Opreme Genuine uses a sugar and sucralose blend, which keeps its calorie content to 110 per 12 ounce can. Otherwise, it’s a run of the mill flavor that certainly won’t build loyalty on taste. While the functional blend might be unique in its exact combination and dosage of its ingredients, ultimately, we think that this product’s choice of flavor and functional ingredients does little to set the stage for this brand to be successful. On the outside, the 12 ounce can has been painted with a silver, gold, red, and blue colored design. It has a somewhat cliche look to it, with a techy looking font (including some backwards letters -- we never understand the purpose of that effect) and the statement that Opreme is a “lifestyle” as opposed to just a premium energy drink. Sadly, we think it’s a dated design that is inferior to the majority of the brands that are already on the store shelves today. Combine that with what’s inside the can, and we simply feel as though this product does not have what it takes to succeed. Going back to the drawing board and trying to create something that’s memorable and engaging is what we’d suggest.Reviewed on: 3/4/2013

BevNET Review: The Sugar Free flavor of Opreme Energy Drink utilizes sucralose and ace-k as its sweeteners of choice. Beyond that, we don’t feel as though there are really any meaningful differences between this variety and its “Genuine” counterpart. This variety has the same flavor as Red Bull, Monster, Rock Star, etc., but it lacks the design, branding, and resources that those products have. That being said, we think it would behoove the marketer of this product to find a more focused niche than to follow the path that it is. Hundreds of independent brands have already made this mistake and not lived to tell about it. We’re not saying this for the sake of being harsh, but Opreme likely still has the chance to turn in a different direction. We sure hope they do. Reviewed on: 2/23/2013
