Spindrift: Lemon

As far as zero calorie beverages go, we definitely applaud Spindrift’s approach to this product. This two ingredient product (sparkling water, fresh squeezed lemon juice) tastes so much better than your typical lemon flavored seltzer, with the lemon juice tasting much more natural and having more depth than flavor essences do. However, it definitely smacks you in the face with lemon, so if you are expecting something very lightly flavored, this product is not it. Visually, we see somewhat of an identity crisis for this product, with a 12 oz. longneck bottle saying “soda” while the label says “water.” Figuring out another way to label this product (perhaps “Unsweetened”?) would certainly help. Plus, the visual similarities to the core Spindrift flavors might lead to further confusion as to what this product is. Overall, it’s a clean and well executed product that is clearly of high quality, but the positioning of the product could be refined.
