Review: Raspberry Lime

Posted: May 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM (Last Updated: Jun 05, 2012 at 9:55 AM)
Of the three Spindrift Water flavors, Raspberry Lime was our favorite when it comes to flavor. The product, which is made with sparkling water, fresh raspberry puree, fresh lime juice (totaling 5% juice), and fruit/vegetable juice for color, has a flavor that is reminiscent of a raspberry lime rickey. The biggest difference is the lack of added sugar, which puts the focus on the fruit flavors. The raspberries add a touch of natural sweetness, but it’s quickly hidden by the lime, which almost overpowers the mix. While we think that this is the best tasting flavor of the Spindrift Water line, it’s also the most visually confusing. We say this because the liquid has a dark red color, which is typically associated with sweetened beverages. It seems like it will be very easy to confuse this with their soda line. Their effort to alleviate this confusion (calling it “Water”) only makes matters worse since this is clearly not just water in the bottle. Hopefully, Spindrift can come up with a better way to name this line because it is a very good extension for the brand.
