Suja Essentials: Essentials - Sunrise Probiotic

Sunset Probiotic is labeled as “Step 1” of Suja Essentials’ three flavor “1-Day Renewal” set that is sold exclusively at Target ($3.99/bottle). This product is a hybrid of sorts, blending a strawberry, banana, and apple smoothie with almonds, chia, vanilla, and probiotics. The first note is heavy on the fruit flavors, which is a good thing seeing as this is being sold at a mainstream retailer. From there, you get a light almond note and some occasional chew from the added chia (which are, for what it’s worth, used very sparingly). All in all, this is an enjoyable tasting product that seems like it could have broad appeal. As for the vegan probiotics, they don’t impact the flavor, but they do provide a marketable and functional benefit. But as with the other flavors, we do feel as though the front panel is becoming very busy. Otherwise, we like the updated look of the Essentials branding, which features a more prominent Suja logo. This look, which the company is planning to use for the rest of the line, is definitely a step up. Overall, we really like the value proposition and the execution of the formulation, but we do wish that the copy on the label would be a bit tighter.
