The Pepsi Bottling Group Names Shaun P. Holliday President of PBG Business Operations

DATELINE: SOMERS, N.Y., Jan. 9, 2004

The Pepsi Bottling Group (NYSE:PBG) today announced that it has named Shaun P. Holliday to the new role of President of PBG Business Operations for the Company. Mr. Holliday, who joined PBG in September of last year as President of International, assumes this position immediately and will continue to report to PBG Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John T. Cahill.

Reporting to Mr. Holliday in his new role are Neal A. Bronzo, Chief Information Officer; L. Kevin Cox, Chief Personnel Officer; Pamela C. McGuire, General Counsel; and Gary K. Wandschneider, Senior Vice President of Operations. All of these executives previously reported to Mr. Cahill. Yiannis Petrides, President of PBG Europe, who had reported to Mr. Holliday, will now report directly to Mr. Cahill.

Commenting on Mr. Holliday’s new position, Mr. Cahill said, “Shaun Holliday has brought a wide range of experience and expertise to our Company. Over the past few months, he has immersed himself in our business, quickly learning about PBG’s operations – both international and domestic. This new position will allow him to exercise his tremendous leadership skills more broadly across the business, bringing new insights to our functional heads, who will benefit greatly from his perspective and varied experience.”

Originally from South Africa, Mr. Holliday began his career in Johannesburg at Imperial Chemical Industries PLC, a leading global chemical company. He progressed through a number of increasingly responsible international positions in sales before pursuing his graduate studies in the United States. Mr. Holliday joined Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc. in 1986 and, in 1990, moved to Frito-Lay as the company’s Director of Strategic Planning. In 1993, he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of the Direct Division, where he was responsible for Frito’s vending and food service businesses, and developing Frito-Lay’s warehouse delivery channel.

Mr. Holliday then spent five years at Guinness Ltd., a subsidiary of Diageo, initially as President of the company’s Americas & Caribbean Region. In 1997, he was named Chief Executive Officer of the Guinness Ireland Group, based in Dublin.

Mr. Holliday returned to the United States in 1999 as Chief Executive Officer of, a leading home furnishings e-retailer in Austin, Texas. In 2000, he was named Chief Executive Officer for eMac Digital LLC, a start-up technology firm that developed software and provided accounting, payroll and information services to the global restaurant industry.

Mr. Holliday earned a Bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1980 and a Master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in 1986.
