GREENWICH, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 12, 2004–Food and wine expert Ted Allen of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” knows a good match when he sees one. Now the man who pairs cuisine-challenged men with epicurean delights has paired himself with Perrier.
Allen will serve as an entertaining consultant and spokesperson for the launch of Perrier’s new triple-layer plastic bottle — the first time Perrier has gone beyond glass in its 141-year history.
“I’ve always served Perrier at home,” Allen said. “It goes with everything, and it has an impressive presence on the table. Now that it’s in plastic, you can enjoy it at the beach, the boat and the barbeque, too. It’s the original sparkling water, unchained!”
As part of Allen’s Perrier partnership, he will develop a slate of signature seasonal drinks that incorporate Perrier’s natural fizz. The partnership also includes a summer entertaining tour, where Allen will visit select U.S.
cities to offer expert tips and refreshingly delicious recipes.
“Ted is an ambassador of class, style and fun,” said Mike Hoynes, senior marketing manager for Perrier. “His sparkling personality is a perfect fit with the carefree sophistication people have come to associate with Perrier.”
A natural evolution of the brand, the new plastic bottle is designed to meet Americans’ thirst for portable, healthy beverage choices. Available in regular, lemon and lime calorie-free natural essence flavors, the new bottle is lightweight, unbreakable, resealable — and recyclable.
Originating in Vergeze in southern France, Perrier is a sparkling natural mineral water. First bottled in 1863, Perrier’s unique sparkling qualities have since conquered the world, and it is now available in 160 countries.
Perrier is a brand of Nestle Waters North America, located in Greenwich, Connecticut. For more information, visit www.perrierusa.com.
