7Up Plus is to launch in two new flavors. The beverage, a combination of 7Up and fruit juice with calcium, will be available in Cherry and Island Fruit flavours. The new releases bring the number of 7Up Plus brands to three, along with original Mixed Berry.
At a party in Los Angeles today (24 August), 7Up, owned by Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages (CSAB), also unveiled a new advertising campaign for the range, featuring Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan from the television series Desperate Housewives.
“Getting enough calcium on a daily basis is a challenge for most women,” nutritionist and author Liz Weiss, MS, RD said in a 7Up statement. “By providing a good source of the daily calcium requirement in every serving, 7Up Plus is providing a better choice for soda fans who are looking for great taste and more balance in their lives.”
“Women have responded that 7Up Plus is exactly the type of soda they’ve been looking for,” said executive vice president and chief marketing officer for CSAB Randy Gier. “Offering three 7Up Plus flavours will provide women with even more variety.”
The new adverts will run on national network and cable television beginning on Monday (29 August). Aimed primarily at women between the ages of 25 and 49, the campaign also includes radio and print advertising. Print advertising is scheduled to break in September in major women’s publications.
All three beverages are sweetened with Splenda Brand Sweetener and contain 10 calories, 10% daily value of calcium, and 3 grams of carbohydrates per serving.
