CARLSBAD, CA (Aug. 23, 2006) – Monster Energy has stepped up as the title sponsor this year for the inaugural Sept. 15-17 Surf Expo’s (Orlando, FL) Monster Energy Wake ‘n Bake Rail Jam, presented by Liquid Force, a wakeboarding/wakeskating rail jam format contest featuring Monster Energy-backed wake team: Shawn Watson, Melissa Marquardt, and newly acquired wakeskater Aaron Reed. The retailers and public will be able to watch the rail jam from the stairs and rails above the 220 foot-long pool setup at the Orange County Convention Center.
The final stop on the Liquid Force Slide Show tour (which is held during the Surf Expo tradeshow), the ‘jam format’ contest will pit rider vs. rider until the field is pared down to two athletes, with prizes going to both men and women for best trick and overall winner.
“Monster Energy and Liquid Force are extremely happy to team up with Surf Expo as the sponsors for the Monster Energy Wake ‘n Bake Rail Jam, presented by Liquid Force,” said Liquid Force’s Aaron Grace, who oversees the summer-long Slide Show and Monster Energy’s wakeboard athletes. “There is not a better spot to wrap up our Slide Show season then in the epicenter of wakeboarding, Orlando. It is going to be great to have the entire action sport industry witness this event.”
“We are very excited to be the title sponsor of this inaugural event and work with Surf Expo in conjunction with Liquid Force to help elevate and support the sport of wakboarding/wakeskating!” exclaims Monster Energy spokesman John Lee.”
For the first time in the show’s history the wakeboard rail pool contest and exhibition will be open to the general public. The riders will be ‘yanked,’ via high-power winches, across the 150-foot long man-made pool – up onto the rails – and back down into the landing pool. If you’re anywhere near the Orlando area in mid-September, plan on checking it out.
