Los Angeles, CA – Cobá’s distribution developments come at an interesting time as larger corporations such as Nestle roll out not only their branded line of aguas frescas, but also other line extensions targeting consumers in the Latino community. Most recently, Pepsi’s Gatorade debuted a limon pepino line extension targeting Latinos. While Cobá’s founders have been tackling the aguas frescas niche category for years, recent entries into the niche space from larger companies certainly begins to validate Cobá’s positioning as the authentic player in the category.
Cobá, the recently launched and first line of all-natural RTD aguas frescas, announced the expansion of their distribution network through agreements with Nature’s Best, Energized Distribution, Tony’s Fine Foods and Sysco. CEO, Arnulfo Ventura shared, “our distribution partners are a direct reflection of the market interest, we’re fortunate to have a brand that can live on-premise, but turns nicely off-premise and that’s a true advantage in an otherwise saturated beverage market with energy drink fatigue.”
Ventura further states, “While our aguas recipes continue to be well received, we needed the branding to communicate our true authenticity. Our investment in the marketing mix is beginning to pay off, so now it’s time to switch our focus to capitalizing the company so that we can scale what we believe will be the premium positioned winner in the space. Our partners such as Energized have never been more bullish on us than they are today. But the feeling is mutual, and perhaps a true testament to our progress. ”
The Cobá rebranding initiative debuted in March at the Natural Products Expo West, where they were spotlighted as the Expo’s Top 5 Food & Beverage Products. There, Cobá received great response from consumers and industry partners alike. With their focus on creating a line of truly authentic aguas frescas they quickly attracted interest and shored up distribution agreements with Nature’s Best and Sysco along with reauthorizing distribution agreements with Energized and Tony’s Fine Foods, who carried their previous brand, Bonadea.
Founded by two Stanford Business School friends, Jose Luis Domene and Arnulfo Ventura, Cobá will be launching these distributors immediately and arriving on store shelves very soon.
