As part of the guideline’s suggestion that American avoid added sugar, consumers are urged to make their primary beverages water, fat-free/low-fat milk or 100% juice. Nestle stands to benefit from this issuance as its bottled water provides a convenient, shelf stable hydration option. In the company’s statement, Cheryl Dreyer, RDN, CDN Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager for Nestlé Waters North America noted, “Bottled water gives easy access to water wherever and whenever people want it, providing a great alternative to sugary drinks as part of a healthy lifestyle.”
