HONOLULU — Shaka Tea, the first line of authentically Hawaiian iced teas on the market brewed from māmaki, an herbal tea only found in the Hawaiian archipelago, announces today Jasmine Slovak as Director of Content & Digital Communications and Andrea Johnson as Hawaiʻi Sales Manager.
“We are in an exciting period of growth, both in our home market of Hawaiʻi, as well as across the US, so this is the right time to make these key additions to our team,” shares Bella Hughes, President and co-founder of Shaka Tea.
Slovak, who was born and raised on Oʻahu, returned to Hawaiʻi four years ago, following a career in corporate retail in the San Francisco Bay Area. A graduate of the Academy of Art University, she previously worked with global marques Levi Strauss, Porsche Design, and Bloomingdale’s, as well as on singular concept shops. She brings an expertise in developing and measuring consumer experience and consumer cycles, with a strong focus on team development, spacial-design and post-purchase engagement, as well as in media communications, having previously served as a Marketing Producer at Hawaii News Now. A graduate of Honolulu’s development bootcamp, DevLeague, Slovak brings a technological expertise, leveraging digital tools to inform businesses on consumer desires and behavior, positioning businesses for strong growth and targeted results.

We are confident in Jasmine’s ability to lead and creatively direct our content and digital communications; as a Hawaiʻi based company, it is wonderful that we have been able to fill this senior role locally, ” Hughes adds.
Andrea Johnson, who has called Hawaiʻi home since 2010, is a Marine Corps Veteran and Hawaiʻi Pacific University Graduate, where she earned her degree in Business Management and is currently working towards her MBA. With a strong background in organizational management and budget finances, she held a variety of roles during her eight years in the Marine Corps managing teams and complex budget and finance systems. Johnson started with Shaka Tea in March and is leading an aggressive expansion strategy across all retail channels on Oʻahu, Maui, Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island, most recently overseeing Shaka Tea’s launch into the Safeway Hawaiʻi stores.
Shaka Tea, which is distributed by Paradise Beverages in Hawaiʻi, launched across the US through KeHE in seven of their distribution centers this month.
