True to its name, Wandering Bear Coffee continues to seek out new paths.
“Every three to six months it feels like we are running a slightly different business,” said Matt Bachmann, co-founder of the New York-based cold brew coffee brand, during an interview at the Summer Fancy Food Show in June. Since its founding in 2014, Wandering Bear has evolved from a direct distribution model delivering to homes and offices around the city, to launching a subscription service for its bag-in-box taps, to introducing an 11 oz. ready-to-drink offering that is available at retailers like Whole Foods and Target. Now, following a $8 million Series A round of financing in February and the addition of several key leadership hires in sales and marketing, the company is shifting gears once again with the launch of two new ready-to-drink SKUs: Mocha with a Splash of Coconut Milk and Black with a Splash of Cream.
In this interview recorded at the 2018 Summer Fancy Food Show, Bachmann discussed the positioning and potential of the new flavors, as well as how he is building consumer awareness for the Wandering Bear brand and creating a company infrastructure to support growth in all areas of the business.
