Napa, CA (April 9, 2026) – Lewis Cellars, renowned for producing world-class Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, proudly announces the inaugural vintage of Medallion Reserve, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that showcases the ultimate expression of the winery’s signature bold winemaking style. Building on more than 30 years of winemaking excellence, this extremely limited release—just under 300 cases—reflects the winery’s uncompromising commitment to quality in the cellar.
Debuting with the 2022 vintage, Medallion Reserve was crafted exclusively from vineyard blocks deemed worthy of the winery’s highest pedigree. Each block identified for consideration was fermented separately and evaluated multiple times for flavor profile, structure, and long-term aging potential. Over months of meticulous barrel tastings, the winemaking team carefully assessed each lot to determine which would compose the final blend. From an initial selection of 1,500 barrels, only 10 barrels were hand-selected for their exceptional depth, concentration, and complexity.
“Medallion Reserve is crafted for those who seek Napa Valley at its most extraordinary—structured, powerful, and designed to reveal greater complexity and richness as it matures over time,” said Dennis Bell, vice president of winemaking, Lewis Cellars. “This cellar-worthy wine is a testament to our team’s relentless pursuit of craftsmanship and represents the pinnacle of our portfolio.”
Fruit for the inaugural release was sourced from a small collection of exceptional vineyard blocks across Napa Valley, including two blocks from the esteemed Stagecoach Vineyard, renowned for its hillside fruit grown at elevation. The blend is led by Clone 337, long celebrated as the cornerstone of Lewis Cellars’ Cabernet program for its deep color, concentrated flavor, and capacity for graceful aging. Each lot matured for 16 months in 100% new French oak prior to blending. Following assemblage, the finished wine returned to barrel for an additional four months to ensure seamless integration and flavor development.
This release is serendipitously timed with the 10-year anniversary of Lewis Cellars’ Cabernet Sauvignon being named Wine Spectator’s No. 1 Wine of the Year, and on the heels of the opening of Lewis Cellars’ new tasting room on Napa’s Silverado Trail—celebrating a storied past and a bright future. The new Lewis Cellars Estate offers guests an elevated indoor-outdoor experience, complete with wine and food pairings and curated art that explores the estate’s winemaking philosophy.
Lewis Cellars 2022 Medallion Reserve ($275) is available exclusively through LewisCellars.com and in the Lewis Cellars Napa Valley tasting room.
