Spirits Gallery: New Spring Releases from Bumbu, Hecate, Booker’s and More

As winter melts into spring and Americans emerge from a longer-than-expected hibernation, there’s reason to be optimistic: businesses are opening up, vaccination rates are climbing, and there’s plenty of new spirits with which a raise a toast to better days. In this gallery, we highlight some of the notable new releases over the past two months, which includes new releases from Bumbu, Elephant Gin and Booker’s, a new basil-infused vodka from Manhattan, the debut of a pair of watermelon expressions from Malibu and Absolut, plus more.

The latest release from Bumbu Rum Company extends the brand into new areas: Bumbu Créme features a blend of Bumbu rum, select spices and real dairy cream to create a rich flavor that works chilled straight, on the rocks or in a cocktail.

If there was a time to splurge, this may be it: In celebration of its 200th anniversary in 2017, Bladnoch of Scotland crafted its rarest whisky release ever. Distilled in 1988 and matured in Sherry casks, the expression has been limited to 200 bottles for the U.S. market and is priced at $7,550.

The first release of Booker’s Bourbon 2021 Collection has arrived: dubbed “Donohoe’s Batch,” it features a medium amber color reflecting its aging (6 years, 11 months and 4 days) in white oak barrels. Bottled at 125.3 proof, Donohoe’s Batch is available now nationwide for a suggested price of $89.99 per 750 ml bottle.

The brand is also rolling out a refreshed brand website and advertising campaign, including a new look for its social media channels.

Hecate Liqueur has released two new additions to its product portfolio. The first, Hecate Coffee, uses a blend of Source One vodka, organic cane sugar, a twist of lemon and Pica Pica, the flagship coffee blend from Magpie Coffee of Reno, Nevada. The second, Hecate Cacao, features sustainably sourced bourbon vanilla beans from Madagascar and cacao nibs from Peru and Ecuador. Both are available in 375 ml bottles for a suggested retail price of $30.

The latest release from Pinnacle is its “Light & Ripe” collection, which features fruit flavors and zero sugar and is launching in two varieties: Apricot Honeysuckle and Guava Lime. Manhattan-based small batch distillery Our/New York has unveiled a new vodka expression created with real basil sourced locally from Brooklyn-based urban farm Square Roots. The limited release of 1,800 bottles is available now in select retailers, bars, and restaurants across New York City.

Both Malibu Rum and Absolut Vodka are embracing watermelon as the flavor of the summer. Malibu Watermelon and Absolut Watermelon are both now available nationwide.

The latest release from Sovereign Brands (Bumbu Rum, Luc Belaire) is VILLON, a blend of fine VSOP and XO cognac. VILLON is currently rolling out to bars, nightclubs and retailers in the U.S. and has a suggested retail price of $34.99.
