With respect to HPC, this is a general term used to describe microorganisms found in most places in our environment. It is completely harmless and is found naturally in water.
International regulatory organizations including the World Health Organization have reviewed HPC and concluded the presence HPC in water has no bearing on the safety or health effects of water; there is no relation of the presence of HPC to the presence of harmful micro-organisms and that HPC has no public health or safety significance. FIJI Water is a premium, all natural water originating from a pristine source in Fiji and is bottled through a hermetically sealed delivery system free of human contact in a state-of-the-art facility where our filling equipment is thoroughly cleaned on a regular schedule. We adhere to stringent safe water regulatory requirements at the bottling facility and we employ a state of the art, ultraviolet light sanitation system as required by our internal HACCP Certified Food Safety Plan to ensure no dangerous or pathogenic bacteria are present. UV sanitation systems are not intended to sterilize the water, only to ensure any potential risk for harmful bacteria is eliminated. In addition, we employ HPC monitoring at various points in our production to ensure that the sanitation process is working effectively. All FIJI Water meets our internal standard of less than 100 cfu/ml at the time of bottling, with 90% of our product testing <2cfu/ml. Our internal monitoring standard is consistent with some of the strictest regulatory standards in the world.
