B’more Organic has brought its fat-free, gluten-free, high-protein smoothies, recently named one of healthy-lifestyle publisher Rodale’s “21 Best Organic Snacks,” to the New York City area. Made from Icelandic-style skyr (“skeer”) strained yogurt, B’more Organic’s single-serving smoothies each have more than 32g of protein, no added sugar, and are loaded with probiotics.
The bottled drinks will be sold online by FreshDirect, a leading online fresh food grocer that delivers premium quality fresh-from-the-farm foods and brand-name groceries directly to the doors of customers in the greater New York, New Jersey, Connecticut metro area and greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, including Delaware. B’more Organic smoothies also will be distributed in the New York area by Daniel Foods, making them available at hundreds of area bodegas, natural food stores, and small grocers.
“We’re excited to align ourselves with these well-respected specialty food sellers,” says Andrew Buerger, who co-founded B’more Organic with his wife, Jennifer, after tasting skyr on a charity mountain-climbing expedition to Iceland in 2009. “Everywhere we go, from Lululemon events to the aisles at Wegman’s, people love our smoothies. We think New Yorkers will embrace ‘convenience with a conscience’ when they can grab a wildly healthy breakfast or snack on the run and enjoy the flavor and great nutrition from a company committed to making the world better.”
B’more Organic is a certified B Corporation, dedicated to sustainable business practices. The grass-fed organic milk used in its smoothies (available in Mango, Banana, Vanilla and Caffe Latte) comes from small Amish farms in Lancaster, PA. The products are USDA Certified Organic, GMO-free, contain no added sugar, and are well-tolerated by people with lactose issues. B’more Organic donates 1% of its sales to Jodi’s Climb for Hope, a charity that raises money to fund promising research on breast cancer and Multiple Sclerosis.
Founded in Baltimore, B’more Organic has been growing rapidly and strategically spreading its retail footprint, with its delicious smoothies on the shelves in 150 stores in the Virginia/DC/Maryland area and at Wegman’s markets throughout the northeast. By the end of March, B’more Organic smoothies also will be available at select ShopRite markets.
