PORTLAND, Maine – Lovers of the unique beverages made at Urban Farm Fermentory (UFF) in Portland will soon be able to purchase a bottle of hard cider or kombucha at their favorite Maine restaurant, bar or corner store.

UFF of Portland has joined forces with Pine State Beverage Co. of Gardiner for distribution of its products throughout Maine. With the sales and distribution coverage offered by Pine State from Kittery to Fort Kent, and from the coast to the mountains, UFF’s hard cider and fermented tea known as kombucha will now be readily available to retailers and restaurateurs around the state.

“We are excited to have one distribution partner for the entire state that can deliver fresh product from our Portland facility to retailer shelves in Maine, including my hometown of Madawaska,” said Eli Cayer, founder of the Urban Farm Fermentory.”

Eli also added, “We spoke with many different parties in considering our future growth partner, and chose Pine State for their combination of skilled sales representatives and distribution capabilities. They understand and embrace our unique products and provide our valued retailers and restaurateurs the time and attention they deserve.”

“We are always excited for the opportunity to help a family-owned Maine business expand their market and grow their company by distributing their products to consumers across the state,” said Pine State Beverage Co. CEO Nick Alberding. “The combination of UFF’s great portfolio of products along with our distribution technology and talented sales force will help make UFF beverages widely available in 2014 and beyond.”

UFF is based in Portland’s East Bayside neighborhood and has been self distributing since its founding in March of 2010. “This decision to establish a strategic relationship with Pine State now allows us to be 100 percent focused on making innovative and artisanal beverages,” said Neil Spillane, CEO of Urban Farm Fermentory. “We are thrilled to do business with another Maine family-owned company that understands and appreciates the consumer’s desire for sustainable, locally crafted products.”
