trimino Adds Distribution with G and G Distributors

strw1PORT CHESTER, N.Y. (Mar. 30, 2015) – For 25 years, G and G Distributors of Port Chester, N.Y., has been servicing bakeries, delis, restaurants and bagel stores from the Bronx north to Putnam County, and east to parts of Connecticut, delivering Italian canoli shells, pastries, and another big seller: whipped toppings for bakery cakes.

Beverages were never part of their line-up until this winter. That’s when owner John T. Goodliffe, the son of the founder, came across a new protein-infused water being served on the sidelines of his son’s hockey game in Connecticut.

“We’re a small specialty distributor,” Goodliffe said. “We knew we could never compete against distributors handling the major soft drink brands. Then we discovered sugarfree trimino from Miami Bay Beverage Company in Branford, Connecticut. The kids on the Connecticut Wolf Pack youth hockey team loved it as a healthy alternative to sugary sports drinks, as did my own kids when we brought it home. It was delicious.”

Goodliffe, a married father of four from Brewster, N.Y., continues, “After we introduced it to a few accounts and started to receive reorders, we knew it was time for G and G to get into the beverage business, starting with a healthy brand that could help families wean themselves off fat-building sodas.”

trimino protein-infused water contains seven grams of high quality whey protein and 100 percent of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamin B complex. It’s light and refreshing with no sugar, carbohydrates, caffeine, gluten, or lactose. At only 28 calories per 16-oz. bottle, it comes in four Simply Delicious fruit flavors: Peach, Mixed Berry, Strawberry Lemonade, and Coconut Pineapple. Suggested retail price is $2.49.

For its part, Miami Bay Beverage is supporting G and G with point of sale shelf talkers, window signs and product flyers, and sends company executives on sales calls with the G and G team.

“trimino is perfect for women-on-the-go looking for a healthy substitute for high-calorie snacks and drinks. Women tend to be the main purchaser in their household and when they like it their spouses and kids usually follow,” said Peter J. Dacey, co-founder and CEO of Miami Bay Beverage.

G and G’s John Goodliffe adds, “trimino tastes great, comes in an attractive bottle, and is a way for store owners to profit. From what I can see, there’s nothing else like trimino on the market.”

Dollar sales for the category of ready-to-drink “wellness and functional” beverages grew 3.9% from 2011 to 2012, making it a $65.3 billion category, according to the Beverage Marketing Corp., New York.

Goodliffe continues, “trimino is ahead of the trend away from sugary cereals, snacks and beverages in favor of healthier options.”
