Consumers may be aware of the health benefits of drinking soymilk, thanks to the isoflavones found in soy grains, including reducing the risk of coronary heart disease, and lowering the risk of certain types of cancers and osteoporosis.
To further educate consumers about the benefits of soymilk, and provide an incentive to try the product, Tetra Pak and soymilk brands have gotten together to promote an in-store campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
From October 9 through November 5, when purchasing four quarts of shelf-stable soymilk, consumers will receive a $3 rebate. For every rebate received, Tetra Pak will donate $1 to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade to help raise funds for advancing access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer. The participating brands include: Silk, WestSoy, Soy Dream, Edensoy, Vitasoy, Pacific Natural Foods and Kikkoman Pearl.
"We wanted to communicate the benefits of soymilk in shelf-stable packages to consumers and what better way to do this than to help out a great cause at the same time," said Carla Fantoni, Business Development Manager for the Prepared Foods Category at Tetra Pak.
Look for soymilk in the "Healthy Foods" aisle
Tetra Pak’s aseptic process ensures that both food and packaging materials are free of harmful bacteria at the moment the food is packaged. UHT or Ultra High Temperature treatment heats food to 135-140°C and maintains the temperature for two to six seconds before cooling down. This treatment minimizes heat penetration problems and allows very short heating and cooling times, while minimizing unwanted changes in the taste and nutritional properties of the product.
