Good corporate citizenship continues to be a high priority for this local beverage marketer. The company has donated $254,084.50 to United Way since 1999.
TalkingRain Beverage Company presented checks to United Ways across the United States and Canada in the amount of $71,913.25, Vice President of Marketing Nina Morrison announced today. This donation resulted from the conclusion of the company’s fifth annual cause-related promotion with Costco Wholesale Stores. This donation brings the total funds raised for United Way over the last five years to $254,084.50.
Donations are returned to local United Ways located closest to the Costco stores where the TalkingRain product purchases are made. This year, the total amount will be divided among 148 United Way Chapters across the United States and Canada. United Way of King County — closest to the Preston headquarters for TalkingRain Beverage Company — will receive $2,109.50 of the total.
“With over 537 Costco Wholesale stores across the nation and Canada, we staged our fifth annual promotion for United Way from January – March 2004,” Morrison explained. “Consumers at Costco stores everywhere joined in the effort with enthusiasm.” The company donated the promotion proceeds resulting from purchases of ICE Botanicals and Sparkling ICE Spring Water with Juice made at Costco during the promotional period.
“TalkingRain and Costco Wholesale have again shown incredible ingenuity and generosity to benefit the community,” United Way of King County President and CEO Jon Fine said. “As a result of TalkingRain and Costco’s partnership in philanthropy, we are now closer to our priorities of ending homelessness and ensuring children are prepared for success when they begin school.”
