Distribution News: More Shelf Space for Protein Drinks

GoodBelly Protein ShakesProtein-infused beverages in a variety of formats have picked up new distribution and retail placement in recent weeks.

A new line of protein shakes launched by probiotic drink maker GoodBelly has come to market. Formulated with 15 grams of plant-based protein, GoodBelly Protein Shakes debuted at Sprouts Farmers Markets in December. Distribution of the beverages, which also contain 40 billion live and active probiotic cultures, will expand to other retailers nationwide this month, according to the company.

Trimino, an enhanced water made with seven grams of whey protein, will soon be available in more locations throughout New England. Miami Bay Beverage Company, the maker of Trimino, has partnered with Worcester, Mass.-based Polar Beverage to distribute the drinks in the region. Miami Bay founder and chairman Bob Leary praised Polar as being “instrumental in solidifying our relationship with and rollout to some of the largest retailers in the northeast including Stop & Shop and Shaw’s.”

On the other side of the country, mix1 protein shakes will be on shelf this month at Safeway locations in retailer’s Southwest Division. The drinks will available at Safeway and Albertson’s stores in Arizona, Colorado, Southern California, Nevada and New Mexico.

In other distribution news:

Caffeinated water brand Avitae is now carried in all 168 locations of supermarket chain Stater Bros. Markets. Available in three formats — 45-, 90- and 125-milligrams of caffeine — Avitae is sold in Slater Bros. stores in Los Angeles, San Bernardino and other parts of Southern California.

Fentimans, maker of botanical brewed sodas and drinks, recently landed distribution of its products in 791 Target stores. The brand is now represented at 900 of the mass retailer’s locations across the U.S. Fentimans’ Traditional Ginger Beer, Cherry Tree Cola, Rose Lemonade, Curiosity Cola and Dandelion & Burdock are all carried at the stores.

True Drinks Holdings has expanded distribution of its AquaBall water beverages in the Midwest. Pure Beverage Company in Indiana, D&B Grocers, Inc. in Michigan, and Griffin Beverage in Michigan now carry AquaBall as parts of their respective portfolios.

Cactus water brand True Nopal will soon be available in Australia and New Zealand. True Me Brands, the maker of True Nopal, recently announced a partnership with Aukland-based Davis Food Ingredients, which will represent the brand in the region.
