These dairy centric organizations joined together to laud the guideline’s emphasis on making dairy a valuable part of every diet whether consumers choose to eat cheese, milk or yogurt. The groups went on to remind consumers that “low-fat and fat-free dairy foods offer a unique set of nine essential nutrients, including calcium, vitamin D and potassium.” Some of which were cited in the guidelines as nutrients most Americans are deficient in.
