Splinter Group Spirits Partners With Vintage Wine Estates

Splinter, formed in 2013 by the Wilkinson Family and Dave Phinney, produces the limited-production, award-winning brands Straight Edge bourbon whiskey and Slaughter House American whiskey. The highly allocated whiskies are finished in French oak wine barrels previously used for aging Bordeaux varietal red wines and have garnered a cult following. Each bottling has sold out upon release.

Wild Turkey Announces Matthew McConaughey as Creative Director

McConaughey will first be seen on the Wild Turkey YouTube channel in the short film which chronicles a visit to the Wild Turkey Distillery, as he bonds with three generations of Russells and explores what has made Wild Turkey a legend in the Bourbon business. That will be followed by McConaughey demonstrating his creative vision in a series of advertising spots, directing and starring in a global campaign slated to begin running in September.

Powerplant Ventures Closes Fund to Help Grow Plant-Based Brands

Plant-based food and beverage private equity firm Powerplant Ventures today announced the closing of a $42 million fund. The fund is led by Mark Rampolla, founder of ZICO Coconut Water, Kevin Boylan and T.K. Pillan, co-founders of the Veggie Grill restaurant chain, and Dan Beldy, former Managing Director of Steamboat Ventures (the venture capital division of Disney).
