BevNET Live: Making The Right Call With Koia CEO Chris Hunter

Learning to pivot amid difficult decisions has been a hallmark of Chris Hunter’s journey as a serial beverage entrepreneur, investor and brand leader.

In conversation with BevNET’s Jeff Klineman at BevNET Live Summer this month, Hunter spoke about how his leadership approach has evolved over the years from his early days founding beverage-alcohol brands Four Loko and Not Your Dad’s Root Beer to becoming a co-founder and CEO of Koia in 2016. He explained that shifting strategies and sensing “the winds changing” allows brands to succeed while other businesses fail because they didn’t evolve quickly enough.

“Ultimately, it is going to come down to a leap of faith no matter what,” he said. “The way I look at these things is I always reserve the right to say no. We can start to walk down these paths, gather more information and then I can make a more educated decision.”
