BASF to Serve Ingredients at IFT

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — BASF will demonstrate how healthy and tasty can be synonymous in its “kitchen” at booth1529 at the 2013 Institute of Food Technologist (IFT) Food Expo. More than 20,000 of the world’s top food science and technology professionals will meet at the McCormick Place convention center in Chicago on July 13-16.

“BASF’s newly designed, interactive booth makes it easy for IFT attendees to experience how we make Newtrition ™ a reality,” said SamyJandali, Vice President, Nutrition & Health, BASF North America. The Newtrition brand was launched recently to better understand consumer needs and to use this knowledge in close partnership with customers to develop new, innovative solutions for the foods and beverages of tomorrow.

“At our booth, we invite industry colleagues to visit our “kitchen” and to taste how appealing foods and beverages can be that are fortified with our wellness ingredients such as omega-3 fatty acids and plant sterols,” Jandali pointed out, recognizing that manufacturers face a number of challenges in creating new products without adversely impacting their taste or appearance. “Just bring us the challenge and our talented teams will find the solution using their combined experience from technical expertise to marketing.”

BASF’s teams will serve consumers’ favorite health ingredients in a range of foods and beverages including:

  • Bread with BASF’s award-winning* omega-3 powder for nutritious sandwiches

  • Bar bites with plant sterols for heart-healthy snacking

  • Energy drinks with the right amount of vitamins B, E, and caffeine for a healthy boost

  • Body shaping beverages-on-the-go with Tonalin ® CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) in a convenient pouch

To demonstrate the performance side of its ingredients portfolio, BASF will feature:

  • Iced tea filtered with Divergan  ® for stability and clarity

  • Cupcakes with Spongolit ® aerating emulsifiers for excellent cake texture and volume, and Lamequick ®whipping concentrates for  smooth, appealing icing
