Rum is building momentum in the U.S. market in 2023. The category is currently one of the most steadily growing craft markets and it continues to benefit from several intersecting popularity shifts.
Rum in the U.S. is currently led by mainstay brands such as Bacardi, Captain Morgan, and Malibu.
Despite growth in the category some Rum brands have relied on misleading marketing, deceptive age statements, and non-disclosure of additives like sugar and coloring to sell their product.
But there is a new, highly sought after additive free Rum available by Shannon Mustipher, a Rum expert and the Author, Tiki: Modern Tropical Cocktails. Shannon’s Jamaican Rum is called Myrtle Bank Tiki Blend and is available now in New York, California and Florida.
Shannon explained that Myrtle Bank Rum is inspired by the iconic Jamaican hotel of the same name, which is credited with offering the iconic serve that inspired the likes of Donn The Beachcomber and Trader Vic’s approach to mixing a style of cocktails that would take the nation by storm and eventually become what we now call “Tiki”.
Shannon recently debuted her new release, Myrtle Bank “Tiki Blend” in New York. Inspired by the full flavored Jamaican Rums that were ubiquitous on resorts before Prohibition, this expression was selected from stocks of 100 % pot still Jamaican rumn aged for 10 years in the UK, with an aim to capture the flavor and essence of Jamaica Rum as it emerged from the Golden Age of mixology, when richly flavored spirits were the pours of choice.
