Miami, FL – April 16, 2009 – Miami-based high-caffeine soda BAWLS Guarana is teaming up with local schools to show support to men and women serving in the armed forces through a letter writing campaign. Hundreds of Miami-Dade students are writing letters of gratitude for inclusion in outgoing BAWLS Military Packs – shipments of the popular drinks sent to BAWLS fans overseas. Shipping only to military addresses, the BAWLS Military Pack includes a note of support from a Miami-based, elementary-age student and twelve cans of BAWLS Guarana drinks.

At their young age, these students are well-aware of the dangers servicemen and women face every day. Several students have parents currently serving overseas. One 4th Grader writes “My father is there, he’s doing things to help you all. Do the best you can defending our nation.” Another student lends a word of advice, “Follow orders, stay safe and be nice to one another.”

More curious students also ask a range of questions in their letters. One student asks “What kind of food are you eating? Like fruits or chips?” Another asks “What do the troops do when they get back from battle? Do they go to sleep?”

BAWLS COO Christina Staalstrom believes the inclusion of student letters not only encourages Miami’s youth to support our troops, but also means a great deal to the Military Pack recipients who are currently stationed overseas. “These letters remind the troops that we are thinking about them and that we support them,” commented Buppert. “Collaborating with these students on this initiative is a very rewarding experience for our company.”

The BAWLS Military Pack Program was first created in 2005 in response to floods of written requests from service men and women overseas who needed a refreshing BOUNCE of BAWLS but had no way of obtaining the drinks. The team at BAWLS developed a way to give back to these loyal fans by creating an ordering web site, expanding their shipping department and launching the BAWLS Military Pack Program. Among the Program’s more frequent customers are parents and friends of the troops whose loved ones frequently drink BAWLS products back home.

The price of a BAWLS Military Pack only covers shipping and packaging costs and since the program’s inception, thousands of BAWLS Military Packs have been shipped to men and women overseas.

About BAWLS

BAWLS is the brainchild of a then college student who named the beverage for the caffeinated “bounce” the drink packs. Widely distributed to local supermarkets, convenience stores (7-Eleven, Speedway), Target, Microcenter stores and gaming venues; BAWLS is a premium, non-alcoholic, carbonated beverage made from the guarana berry harvested in the Amazonian Rainforest. The caffeine found in BAWLS Guarana contains the same amount of caffeine as coffee and nearly three times that of traditional sodas due to a naturally occurring form of the stimulant found in the guarana berry. BAWLS’ unique refreshing flavor tastes like a citrus infused cream soda and its popularity continues to grow among caffeine-deprived, refreshment-seeking techies, students, professionals and athletes in need of a Bounce.
