The brand, which comes in three fruit-flavored varieties, is very straightforward and enjoyable in both its formulation and packaging, although it’s hard to see where this product fits amidst the massive sea of RTD teas that are already on the market.

End of the Line for Avitae, Sources Say

Caffeinated water brand Avitae has laid off its entire staff and is in the process of liquidating its remaining inventory, according to former employees. Brian Pitzer, who founded Avitae in 2009, was ousted as CEO in September by the company’s board of directors, the employees say. Multiple calls to Pitzer have not been returned.

All-natural protein smoothie company Mix1 is on the verge of shutting its doors, just three months after the Hershey-controlled brand announced a broad redesign. In concept, it’s not that much different than most of the other cold brew products that we’ve sampled, but the syrup is a concentrated form that can be mixed with water. However, the fact that it’s syrup form definitely makes it a bit more difficult to mix than other brands that are simply coffee concentrate.

Hain Celestial Completes BluePrint Acquisition

Natural foods conglomerate Hain Celestial has finalized its acquisition of BluePrint, a marketer and manufacturer of high pressure processed organic fruit and vegetable juices and juice cleanses. The deal, which was initially announced in November, is expected to increase the operational capacity of Blueprint and the availability its line of single-serve bottled juices, which are currently sold in a number of natural retailers in the Northeast and Southern California.
