Chicago’s iconic Jeppson's Malört is back with another bold, limited edition release. This one-of-a-kind Malört is aged in ex-Laphroaig quarter casks and can be purchased exclusively at Joto within CH Distillery - home of Jeppson’s Malört - for $100.

True to the brand’s community-driven roots, 100% of the profits from each bottle sold will be donated to Thin Green Line Foundation, a global non-profit organization dedicated to protecting wildlife by supporting rangers on the frontline of wildlife and habitat conservation.

Only 500 limited edition bottles have been produced, all featuring Malört’s traditional front label and a custom-designed back label highlighting the special release and its charitable mission.

"This all started because I genuinely like the taste of Laphroaig, despite knowing it’s not for everyone," said Zachary Jarosz, Operations Director at CH Distillery. "It felt like a natural parallel to Malört, which is known for being distinct, unique, and producing a strong reaction in the drinker."

In a creative aging experiment, Malört was rested in two ex-Laphroaig barrels over the course of a year. One barrel was left to age untouched, and the other was removed and refilled after approximately 100 days. The resulting liquid was blended into a single batch to produce the finished product, retaining the bracing bitterness of Malört, now infused with the peaty depth and coastal smoke of Islay whisky.

“We prefer to release limited edition Malört when it can serve a greater purpose,” Jarosz said. “It’s a way to bring the community together around a bottle that is as unforgettable as the cause it supports.”

This rare release will be available starting Thursday, June 26, 2025, exclusively at Joto, located inside CH Distillery at 564 West Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60661.

###

ABOUT JEPPSON'S MALÖRT

Jeppson's Malört is named after Carl Jeppson, the Swedish immigrant who first distilled and popularized liquor in Chicago in the 1920s and throughout Prohibition. Known for its bitter taste, Malört has continued to grow in popularity throughout the decades. For many Chicagoans, it is a rite of passage. Today, Jeppson's Malört is a Chicago icon that is both revered and reviled.

ABOUT CH DISTILLERY

Founded in 2013, the name CH refers to the great city of Chicago and the fundamental compounds in alcohol, Carbon and Hydrogen. CH is Chicago's leading artisan spirits producer with an extensive portfolio including the only organic vodka made from Illinois grain and a variety of core and specialty spirits. CH acquired Jeppson's Malort in 2018 and brought production home to Chicago to its state-of-the-art distillery in East Pilsen.
